What Are The Alternatives To Caffeine?

Caffeine is a brilliant supplement, if you can handle it. Not everyone reacts the same to caffeine. If you have trouble using caffeine, then another option may be better. There are alternatives that can replace caffeine. Depending on why you’re looking to replace caffeine, different alternatives are available:

Caffeine vs Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate is similar to caffeine in that it can aid weight loss. Yerba Mate is thermogenic, so it increases the rate at which fat is burned, like caffeine. Yerba Mate also acts as an appetite suppressant. However, Yerba Mate is a diuretic, like caffeine, so beware of fluid intake throughout the day. Yerba Mate does have small amounts of caffeine, but not much, so don’t expect as much mental focus and energy as caffeine itself would give you.

Caffeine vs Ginseng

Ginseng is similar to caffeine in that it provides mental focus and clarity. Like caffeine, ginseng also increases blood pressure. When taken in controlled fashion, is much the same effect as caffeine. Whilst it might not have the same energetic effects as caffeine, an additional bonus of Ginseng is that it combats diabetes and cholesterol levels.

Caffeine vs Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is similar to caffeine in that it works with the nervous system. Caffeine has an effect on the nervous system, while B12 actually works to keep it healthy and firing at top speed. Whilst caffeine increases stress hormones in the body, B12 actually works to bring them down to normal levels. Like caffeine, B12 produces increased energy and decreases fatigue.

Caffeine vs Yohimbe

Yohimbe (also known as Yohimbine) is on the opposite end of caffeine when it comes to blood flow. Caffeine is a constrictor of blood vessels, while Yohimbe is a dilator. Overdosing on Yohimbe can drop blood pressure, like caffeine. Yohimbe also aids in fat loss by blocking certain receptors in the body that store fat. Yohimbe is considered as potent, if not more so, than caffeine, but the flipside is that it is actually very hard to find in the UK, and the side-effects are rather severe. If you can stand it, Yohimbe is more potent stimulant than caffeine, but caffeine is far more cost effective and gives more punch in terms of value for money. Yohimbe is not cheap.
