Darrrrrrrk Chocolate & Espresso Protein Ice Cream!

Darrrrrrrk Chocolate & Espresso Protein Ice Cream!

This ice-cream has a secret. What? A whole can of beans. HORROR! Most people think: that sounds vile. But, you can NOT taste the beans and second of all, they’re what makes this so deeply chocolaty and creamy. Don’t believe us? Try it.

Ingredients:

1 can black beans
2-3 scoops whey protein powder
2 tablespoons 100% cocoa powder
1 shot espresso (optional but WOW: amazing)

Directions:

1. All you got to do is stick it in the blender, taste a bit of it with a spoon (if it’s not sweet enough for your taste, add some sweetener or honey/agave to it).

2. Put it in a Tupperware for 30 minutes, take it out and give it a mix with a spoon (or fork or even a spork if you’re so inclined), put it back in for another 30.

3. Then you’re all done a tupparware-full of dark chocolate ice-cream!

Warning: Don’t eat all the ice cream in one go. Yes, it’s that good. No, it’s not hard to find yourself eating it all in one sitting but remember: 17.9g of fibre.

  1. black bean brownies are great! the whole black bean + cocoa is a revolution really. At first I was one of those people thinking “yuck!” but all I had to do was try it once and bam – hooked.

  2. Thank you Anna! for this delicious ice cream I’m loving it!
Because the normal ingredients (fat & sugar) in ice cream,I hadn’t eaten it in so long time ago but now..thanks to you!! mmm I can’t stop eating it! so delicious. Chocolate, coffee, ice cream.. this is the best!

    • It’s possible that any bean will do (any bean canned in NONSALTED water). Make sure they’re fat beans though (i.e. beans with a good amount of ‘meat’) so if you can’t get black beans, get butter beans or azuki beans?
