Pumpkin Seed & Dark Chocolate Protein Bars

This is a great recipe to showcase just how easy and quick it is to make your own protein bars! And how much better – and better for you, they end up being. Feel free to tweak this recipe too if you like. For example, if you don’t like pumpkin butter, use peanut or almond butter! If you want them wetter: add more milk. If you want them drier: add a bit more of the coconut flour or cocoa. Have fun with this one!

12g oats (gluten-free or regular)
10g whey protein powder
5-10g coconut flour
1 tsp vanilla essence
12g agave syrup
13-15g cocoa powder
16g pumpkin seed butter
Splash of coffee (no more than a couple of teaspoons)


1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl using your hands.

2. Shape into two bars.

3. Once they’re shaped, you can either refrigerate them so they set a bit further OR you can melt some dark chocolate (no more than 10g per bar) and dunk your bars in there before placing them on an alumium foil-lined tray in the fridge for the dark chocolate coating to set (pictured here are both bars – naked and coated).

It’s THAT simple to make your own delicious protein bars! Why buy ready made bars when you can make things like this, you know? Using fresh ingredients and absolutely no junk whatsoever? Like shelf-life extending ingredients or silly amounts of sodium designed to preserve bars months and months. Your body doesn’t need that! You know what I mean? Make your own bars. Play around with them. It’s not only fun and delicious to make these bars, they’re also by far the ‘cleanest’ (by which I mean junk-free) protein bars you’ll find ANYWHERE. Gluten-free. Artificial sweetener-free. No fillers. No randomness. Just great ingredients in protein bar form. What’s not to love?
