Modern Slavery Statement

Introduction

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and outlines the steps Protein Works has taken during the financial year ending 31 August 2024 to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our business operations and supply chains.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Protein Works is a UK-based nutrition company specialising in high-quality protein powders, supplements and functional foods. Our operations encompass product development, manufacturing and distribution. We serve customers across the UK and internationally. As of 31 August 2024, we employed 165 people. Our supply chain includes sourcing raw ingredients, packaging materials and services from various suppliers, both domestic and international. We recognise that certain regions and sectors may present higher risks of modern slavery and are committed to mitigating these risks through diligent oversight and ethical practices.

Our Approach to Modern Slavery

Protein Works recognises its responsibility to combat modern slavery and is committed to meeting the obligations of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. This includes the ongoing review of both our internal employment practices and our supply chain relationships. We do not knowingly engage with any organisation, either in the UK or internationally, that is involved in slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour. All labour engaged in support of our business is sourced in compliance with applicable employment legislation, and we maintain a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery or human trafficking. Key components of our current approach include:

- Right to work checks are conducted for all potential employees in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Due diligence on new suppliers, with preference given to reputable partners.
- Purchase terms that require compliance with applicable laws, including the Modern Slavery Act.
- Close operational involvement in our UK-based production, warehousing and fulfilment activities.
