Rewind to 12th December 2012. Out of a freezing cold office (because we couldn’t afford heating back then!), our founders huddled round a couple of computer screens. This was the moment. After a year of working round the clock and a lifetime of tempering the thirst to create a world-class brand, we pressed LAUNCH. That was the moment Protein Works website went live to the globe.

It’s not an overly fancy story, we know. There’re no garages worked out of, no office in the Bay Area to talk up. But fancy isn’t in our DNA, innovation is. With the idea to rock the very foundations of a sports nutrition industry that had become complacent, we set out to create an online sports nutrition brand that put pure quality & wow service before lowest possible price. With that vision and all it entails; we knew we’d be the underdogs from the very beginning. But you know what? We love that.

Fast forward almost 8 years and the journey from humble Cheshire beginnings, to over 1 million orders shipped globally may be in the bag, but our future is just beginning…

At our Cheshire based HQ we handle the full business mix - a vast facility over two sites and over 75,000 square feet. On one site you’ll find everything from our Operations Department, including Finance & Customer Experience to Fulfilment and Warehousing, On the second site, you’ve got the engine room of Manufacturing, Product Development, Technology and Digital Marketing teams. Our award-winning Sales & Marketing Team handle the full Performance Marketing mix, Brand Management, Design, Customer Experience, Content Creation, SEO and CRO and Trading. Is it a squeeze? Sure. But only when it comes to knowledge base! We do this on purpose because we believe that our business is best when it collaborates and moves as one. It’s super charges personal and business growth.

The Role: Digital Marketing Director

With the continued growth of the brand in a highly competitive digital landscape, we are on the look out for an accomplished digital genius and natural people leader to join our award-winning team. Exceptional management skills and an outstanding track record in the retail digital space, particularly paid channels & trading, are essential. You will thrive on working in a highly commercial and dynamic trading environment, with a inherent focus on hitting targets and beating the competition. Put short, you’ve got to hate losing!

We are looking for a digital marketing professional who has come through the ranks, working at the coalface across key biddable & digital channels and in trading environments, and now operates at a senior level. Reporting into the Chief Marketing Officer, you are one of those rare individuals that can think both tactically and strategically. Your ability to manage the full marketing mix, including brand, social media, SEO, influencers, PR and more, will make you stand out from the crowd. It goes without saying that your eye for detail and interest in KPIs and data, will be your ground zero for making decisions.

You will have significant exposure to the Senior Exec Team including our CEO, CFO and COO and be incredibly ambitious in making your mark and helping the business break new records. Commitment and energy will be in your DNA, and your ability to inspire and support a talented marketing team will be second to none.

Responsibilities & Hot Projects

1. Scale our paid social channel from awareness to conversion campaigns adding notable YoY growth.

2. Take our PPC and Paid Social teams and combine them to one, fast paced, dynamic Paid Media team.

3. Devise long term channel mix tactics to lower CPAs, countering rising digital costs.

4. Work with our Head of Product Marketing to develop LTV driving strategies.

5. Get hold of our LTV:CAC predictive modelling and work across functions to continue positive trends.

6. Drive our Partnerships programme with our Head of Affiliates & Partnerships to be a growth catalyst.

7. Review our marketing mix and strategies and devise a testing strategy to scale without dropping performance.

8. Alongside the CMO, manage a multi-million marketing budget and report weekly to the Board.

9. Formulate and deliver a cutting-edge CRM program to augment the customer experience.

10. Key stakeholder in our Data Projects, including our migration from UA GA to GA4.

1. Be able to inspire, support and build strong relationships with the Marketing team.

2. Collaborate closely on a daily basis with key external departments such as Operations & Finance.

3. Be highly familiar with optimising performance across paid marketing channels

4. Possess both an analytical approach to problem solving and a creative flair to eye-catching design

5. Understand the importance of brand and how to build one for a mass, mainstream audience

6. Perform at a high level on a daily basis in a super fast paced environment

7. Be prepared to get your hands dirty, so to speak, in all areas of marketing as required
