Scientists took a group of 32 subjects and randomly assigned them to consume 20g of casein protein, whey protein or pea protein 30 minutes before eating a meal and their appetite and desire to eat that meal was then measured. What did they find? Basically, the “pea protein (and casein) showed a stronger effect on food intake compared to whey when consumed as a preload”. This means the power of pea-based protein came out on top in keeping hunger at bay. Helping you feel fuller for longer and therefore sticking to your diet. Similar results have also been found with hemp protein and soy protein that topped the league when it came to curbing cravings and fighting fat compared to most diary proteins.
