What is Egg Protein?
Egg Protein 80 from The Protein Works™ is a high protein source made from 100% pure egg whites. Egg protein is inherently low in fat and carbohydrates and has an excellent amino acid profile. It’s often the preferred choice of protein for athletes wanting a protein source that’s absorbed at a steady rate during the day. This is because whilst Whey Protein 80 is rapidly absorbed and ideal post workout and Milk Protein 85 (casein based) is slowly absorbed and ideal before bed. Egg protein has a moderate absorption rate, is absorbed over 3-4 hours and so is perfect for during the day.
What Are The Benefits of Egg Protein?
Egg protein is also lactose free making it ideal for anyone with a lactose intolerance. Plus it has a great amino acid profile which is of huge importance for athletes that have a lactose intolerance, since often it’s hard to find protein source that has a amino acid profile similar to that of the more commonly used Whey Protein 80.
How Can You Use Egg Protein?
Egg protein is also used as a base ingredient to add to other single source proteins to make a blend. For example many experts recommend a whey protein and egg protein blend during the day to create a quick to moderate absorbing protein meal replacement shake. Others may recommend a casein protein and egg protein blend before bed to provide a moderate to slow absorbing protein shake before bed. Ultimately using Egg White Protein 80 like this ensures you not only create a shake with a tapered release of protein but it also supply’s the muscles with a more varied array of aminos which is excellent for muscle growth and repair.

The Expert's View of Egg Protein
"The International Olympic Committee Consensus on Sports Nutrition states to support a strength or speed based workout routine athletes require 1.7grams of protein per kg of bodyweight per day. Interestingly research conducted at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada later found that endurance athletes require a greater (or equal) intake of protein than strength athletes to prevent protein catabolism during exercise."

A. We like to keep things pure! You won't have to worry about finding any artificial colours or flavours in any TPW™ products. That's not just marketing talk, that's a promise!
Q. What does "dry basis" and "as-is" mean when talking about protein content?
A. When you see a protein powder that states on the label the protein "dry basis' values, it means that the moisture present in the powder is included in the total protein value. Moisture in dry protein powders are typically around 4%. As whey prices have seen significant price increases over recent years due to the large demand in the sports nutrition sector, some brands may not give you all the facts in regards to the true level of protein in your powders, in order to save themselves money, and mislead you in believing you are getting something you are not! Here at TPW™ we believe in the truth! So when choosing your Egg White Protein, look at the "AS IS" level of protein in the product, something we always declare. This will give the true accurate value of what you are actually getting per serving. |Values based on:||30g per serving|
100% Egg White powder
Serving Size: 30g (one large scoop)
Add between 200ml-250ml of water or milk to your TPW™ Master Blender, then add 1 scoop (30g). Shake well and consume.
We recommend you use between 2-3 servings per day, or as required to meet your individual needs.
Typical daily usage:
- 1 serving upon waking
- 1 serving mid day
- 1 serving before bed
This protein powder mixes easily with 250 ml of water or semi skimmed milk but does not have the best flavour, I recommend mixing it with some choc silk or choc mint flavoured whey protein 80 to improve / mask the taste.
Egg white protein is also suitable as an alternate protein source for those who cannot process milk based proteins due to them being lactose intolerant, and also for those that do not want to use soy protein or other plant based sources.
I have tried pasteurized liquid egg whites in the past and prefer to use this product mixed with shakes rather than the liquid version due to it making shakes have an odd taste to them due to me using the liquid egg whites as a substitute for the 250 ml of water or milk to mix the protein with.
This product will work better for adding to shakes and the liquid versions can be saved for cooking omelettes with or just drinking standalone to add extra protein into my diet.
