What Is Glycine?
Glycine from The Protein Works™ is a non-essential amino acid that’s widely used in sports nutrition both as a supplement on its own and as a supplement that’s added to others to boost their performance enhancing abilities. A glycine supplement is best known for helping to increase muscle mass and is usually taken preworkout to help prevent muscle breakdown and ultimately help improve the entire muscle building process. However, more recently Glycine has become a popular postworkout supplement too following impressive studies that showed it had anti-inflammatory properties and helped the central nervous system recover.
When To Take Glycine?
When taken alone, Glycine is usually taken to help increase high quality muscle mass. This is often why it’s taken at night or added to a shake before bed to help stimulate signal molecules that are elevated whilst you sleep and greatly help the entire recovery process.
Glycine supplements have become a very popular to take with others. Sports nutritionists usually recommend that strength athletes take their creatine with a glycine supplement since this enhances the uptake of the creatine and prevents it’s depletion in the muscles. This coupled with the fact that Glycine can also help remove toxic substances such as lactic acid from the body means you are able to train harder and for longer.
Perhaps more important for endurance athletes, there’s a body of evidence that shows glycine supplements promote a greater glucose uptake. This is particularly useful for those ‘carb-loading’ before a competition, or those on a high carbohydrate diet, or those wanting to promote muscle glycogen replenishment and enhance recovery post workout.

Q. When should I use Glycine?
A. It depends on your lifestyle and goals, we recommend following the suggested serving guidelines.
Q. What are main reasons for using Glycine?
A. To help promote muscle growth and prevent muscle breakdown or to use with other supplements to enhance their performance enhancing properties.
Q. Are there any specific health benefits associated with Glycine?
A. Glycine has also been shown to be an inhibitory neurotransmitter meaning it has a calming effect on the brain, so it has been used to help treat certain cognitive disorders.
Q. Is all Glycine the same no matter what brand you use?
A. As with so many things in life, if you don't ask the right questions, you won't get the right answers! The quality of ingredient can vary significantly and therefore the potency will do too. In addition, just because a product may be called pure it doesn't mean that it necessarily is. We recommend you read the ingredients and nutritionals on the label to better understand exactly what you are buying. We can assure you that our products are 100% pure. At TPW™, we are committed to transparency and openness in all our products and that is why we provide a 'Product Profile' which gives a complete overview of the product's background including our approval, location of manufacture and money back guarantee applicability.

A. Yes definitely. Sports nutritionists for example recommend strength athletes take Glycine with creatine to enhance the creatine's absorption and uptake whilst Glycine also works very well when taken with a simple carbohydrate since it increases it’s absorption into the muscles.
Q. What if any side effects will I get from taking Glycine?
A. We haven't heard of any nasty side effects from taking TPW™ Glycine, however nausea and dizziness can occur in extreme cases when athletes accidentally take too much. However it must be noted this would have to be a significant overdose.

A. Enhanced recovery, increased absorption of other supplements and an improvement in muscle mass and strength.
Q. Who should take / benefit from using Glycine?
A. Bodybuilders and strength athletes. Endurance athletes. Those new to weight training. People involved in team sports. Those who participate in regular intense training and exercise.
