How is Brown Rice Protein Made?

Brown Rice Protein is a premium grade of protein which is derived from concentrated fractions of the whole rice grain. Brown Rice Protein has an exceptional amino acid profile, which is the closest to that of mother's milk. It is 100% GMO free and completely dairy free, making it the ideal choice for those with specific allergens and dietary restrictions. Brown Rice Protein is a fantastic alternative to both whey and soy protein. Brown Rice Protein is low in fat and carbohydrates, is a great source of dietary fibre and boasts all nine of the essential amino acids.

What Are The Benefits of Brown Rice Protein?

Brown Rice Protein is derived by isolating the proteins from brown whole grain rice. Brown Rice Protein is mainly used by athletes who require a quality protein supplement but who don't want to use a dairy or soy based protein source. Most people supplement their diet with Brown Rice Protein for specific dietary reasons. Yet, some athletes actually prefer this type of protein because of the additional nutrients found within it. For example, high levels of certain B vitamins, a good amino acid profile and high fibre content. This is particularly true of TPW™ Brown Rice Protein 80 which is considered the finest available on the market today.

What's The Best Brown Rice Protein?

Here at TPW™, you can have supreme confidence in the product quality and supply source. The Expert's View of BROWN RICE PROTEIN

"The International Olympic Committee Consensus on Sports Nutrition states to support a strength or speed based workout routine athletes require 1.7grams of protein per kg of bodyweight per day. Interestingly research conducted at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada later found that endurance athletes require a greater (or equal) intake of protein than strength athletes to prevent protein catabolism during exercise."

Research: Food, Nutrition and Sports Performance II: The International Olympic Committee Consensus on Sports Nutrition (Ron Maughan et al, 2004).

Q. When should I take brown rice protein?

A.It depends upon your lifestyle and goals, we recommend the following optimal serving times:
Immediately upon waking / 30 minutes pre workout / before you go to bed.

Any other time during the day when you require additional protein intake.

Q. What does brown rice taste like ?

A. Brown rice protein powder does have a different taste profile to that of whey and soy proteins, so it is ideal to use within blends as it does have a stronger flavour.

Q. Isn't brown rice a carbohydrate?

A. Yes it is. All foods contain amino acids. The brown rice is processed so the proteins are isolated from the carbohydrates, making it high in protein and low in carbohydrates and fat.

Q. Is brown rice protein classed as a "complete protein"?

A. Yes. Brown rice contains all nine of the essential amino acids.

Q. How much protein should I take?

A. It is recommended that you consume between 2-5 servings per day, dependant upon your own personal needs. A serving would be classed as 30g (one scoop) of brown rice protein. It is recommended that you take 1g of protein per pound of body weight, so adjust your intake accordingly.

Q. Why do I need to take protein?

A. Consuming a protein shake can help muscle growth. It is a widely researched fuel that has been shown to help muscle growth, recovery and repair after intense exercise or workout.

Q. Is all brown rice protein the same, regardless of which brand it is?

A. As with so many things in life, if you don't ask the right questions, you won't get the right answers! The quality of protein can vary significantly and therefore the protein content will do too. In addition, just because a product may be called Brown Rice Protein it doesn't mean that it only contains brown rice protein isolate. We recommend you read the ingredients and nutritionals on the label to better understand exactly what you are buying. We can assure you that our Brown Rice Protein 80 is purely brown rice protein.

At TPW™, we are committed to transparency and openness in all our products and that is why we provide the following information on all our protein products:

1. Product Profile - a complete overview of the product's background including our approval, location of manufacture and money back guarantee applicability

2. Protein Insight - a complete breakdown of the types and quantities of protein contained in the product

3. Product Testing - an up to date certificate of analysis which provides independent verification of the protein content

Q. How can I tell if the protein I use is a good quality protein?

A. Keys signs to look for are the level of protein declared on the label. Look for brown rice protein with a minimum 80% content, and GMO free.

Q. What does "dry basis" and "as-is" mean when talking about protein content?

A. When you see a protein powder that states on the label the protein is given as "dry basis " this means that the moisture present in the powder is included in the total protein value. Moisture in dry protein powders are typically around 4%. However, when a protein supplement is stated "as-is" this means the actual protein content of the powder with the water content excluded. In other words, the true protein you will be consuming.

Q. Is brown rice protein suitable for vegans and vegetarians?

A. Yes it is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians and those in a gluten free diet.

Q. Is brown rice protein absorbed as quickly as whey protein?

A. Brown rice is an easily digested protein so its absorption rate is not dissimilar to whey protein.

Q. Can I take Brown Rice Protein with other supplements?

A. The simple answer is yes. We recommend you always check serving instructions on each product if you plan on taking a combination of supplements. Brown rice protein is most commonly taken with creatine, oats, BCAA and glutamine. In fact the uptake of protein can be improved by introducing high GI carbohydrates, as this creates an insulin spike which helps flood nutrients to the muscles quickly.

Q. Can I take too much protein?

A. If you don't burn the excess calories that come with the additional protein, it may lead to increased body fat. No other side effects have been noted.

Q. What if any side effects will I get from taking brown rice protein?

A. We haven't heard of any nasty side effects from taking Brown Rice Protein 80.

Q. Do any foods contain brown rice protein ?

A. No, there are no foods that contain actual brown rice protein concentrate.

Q. What is brown rice protein?

A. Brown rice protein is the concentrated fractions of whole grain brown rice.

Q. What effects should I expect from taking brown rice protein alongside my training regime?

A. Results vary depending on your diet, nutrition, training and individual body type. For an average individual, it can help increase  lean muscle mass and support an increased metabolic rate. It can also aid reduced muscle breakdown post exercise and improved recovery times. In simple terms, you should be able to get back in the gym quicker for your next workout .

Q. Who should take / benefit from using brown rice protein

A. Bodybuilders and strength athletes. Endurance athletes. Those on a controlled weight loss diet. Those new to weight training. People involved in team sports. Those looking to avoid dairy and soy sources or wheat, gluten and eggs.

I find brown rice protein to be a great complete protein source that mixes well with hemp, soy and pea proteins to provide a more well rounded amino acid profile for those that are vegan or vegetarian and cannot supplement with the whey and milk based protein powders.

This is a great quality powder that i find more suited for baking protein based product with due to it providing a better texture compared to whey and casein.

5/5 a great alternate protein source that can be used by vegans and also used in making protein based cakes and mixing with whey proteins to provide additional amino acids leading to more improved muscle recovery and growth.

Bought this for cooking and cant really taste it in the foods but a bit grainy as a drink which you get used to after a while.
This is great protein for a post workout shake. I mix it with the pea protein (dairy allergy) and it mixes very well into the water with no lumps. The taste is kind of earthy, however you get used to it, it's definitely drinkable and the key is to just get it down quickly. So overall I am very happy with this product.
Mix this with my oats for a shake on a morning. Not the nicest tasting but not too heavy on my stomach and gets me through my training no probs
I tried this out when looking for good non-dairy sources of protein. Unfortunately once I'd finished the bag I went back to dairy - I just couldn't handle the taste or the really dry texture that accompanies it.

I have heard it is a good powder to cook with so will be ordering some again in the future for adding to protein breads and the like.
I tried this in a shake but the flavour is rather unpleasant and really overpowering, plus the texture is very "dry" and chalky, even mixed with flavoured whey, berries etc didn't work for me.

However it is brilliant for baking, wouldn't recommend it for anything delicate like crepes or sponges but an absolutely perfect ingredient for anything chocolatey, nutty, spicy... because of the dry flour-like texture, I can literally replace some of the flour with this part for part, and the high fibre content is of course brilliant too. I have gradually replaced all "nasties" in my baking with GF flours, healthy oils, raw products etc. and being able to add extra protein without compromising the texture makes things just that one bit better!
I tried it as a shake but really couldn't hack the flavour (any chance for flavoured versions?) but is really good as an ingredient in protein breads, bars and baked goods. All round good ingredient.
I've started mixing this with my whey protein to get a varied protein intake and different amino acid profile and have to say best combination i've used.
